Our Story

Why we began. Where we’re growing

The Gap We Saw

Every child learns in their own way, yet not every learning environment is designed to nurture that uniqueness. Ahava was created to give children a space where their strengths are celebrated, their needs are supported, and their growth is honored.

Ahava Nature School started with a simple vision: a place where children could feel safe, valued, and free to learn in ways that honored who they are. We knew education needed to look different , more connected, more flexible, and rooted in real life experiences. What began as a small micro-school has grown into a supportive community for both children and families.

How Ahava Began

Ahava is more than a school — it’s a model for change. Our vision is to expand access to programs that support not only academics, but also emotional regulation, resilience through real-world experiences, and social-emotional growth. We are working toward a future that includes integrated therapy supports, expanded age ranges, and inclusive programming for all children and families.

Where We’re Growing

Our Core Values

Connection
Relationships are at the heart of learning and growth.

Curiosity
Children thrive when they are free to wonder, explore, and discover.

Growth
Learning is about more than academics , it’s about becoming confident and capable in life.

Two children sitting on a porch swing; one is a young girl with dark hair in a leopard print dress, holding a teddy bear and eating a cookie; the other is an older girl with dark hair reading a pizza cookbook, with a hand on her knee.
A young girl with curly brown hair tied up in a ponytail, wearing a striped pink and white shirt and leopard print leggings, is sitting cross-legged at a picnic table. She is painting on a piece of paper with bright colors, and there are watercolor paints on the table. Another child wearing a pink dress is standing nearby.
